From Faith to Failure and Back Again.

From Faith to Failure and Back Again.

If you had to pick a man from the Bible that you quickly related to, who would you choose? I think I would pick Peter in short order. Maybe it’s because I can relate to Peter’s apparent ADHD and ability to speak before he thought things through. More than likely though, I think it would be because of the pendulum swing between Peter’s strong faith and stronger fear at times. In MMFC we often speak of Peter stepping out of the boat in great faith. Then, we remember that as…

Abraham – Putting Feet to our Faith.

Abraham – Putting Feet to our Faith.

It’s hard to talk religion too long without hearing the name Abraham come into the discussion.  Three of the world’s largest religions, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity all trace their faith back to Abraham the patriarch.  Why is this ancient father such a powerhouse?  It’s not because the guy was perfect.  That’s seen in many ways and none the least is the fact that he lied about his wife, not only once, but twice, to save his own skin. The root of this man’s success with God was based in an…

The Fear Factor.

The Fear Factor.

The thing that I find interesting about Joshua chapter one is that four times in the text the great leader of Israel is told to be strong and courageous. Why would this be such an issue? Because; apparently Joshua wasn’t very courageous at that point in time. The nation of Israel was about to head into the promise land, something they had not done before, and Joshua was charged with leading them. The possibility of fear was real. The danger. The unknown. God’s odd battle plan of marching around Jericho…

Man Books

Man Books

I have probably been studying God’s design for manhood for well over 20 years now.  The first real pick at the subject came during my college years when a friend and I set upon the gospels to learn what we could from the man Jesus Christ.  While Jesus is divine, God in the flesh, he was also perfect in his manhood.  The text tells us that he got angry with the religious Pharisees, wept over the death of a friend, and got tired after a long day’s work.  The author…

Finding Strength Where It Was Lost

Finding Strength Where It Was Lost

Where did the weakness come from?  Many sociologists will point to a turbulence in time which we know as the 1960s in America.  With free sex came fractured families which lead to countless boys growing up without a dad to lead the way.  While such statistical data is something to consider, the real root resides much further back in history.  The true problem goes all the way back to our first father, Adam, and his forgetting who he was. What we find in the ancient order of things before sin…
