Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

This verse invites us to take a breath. In the midst of this busy world that is running in every direction, Jesus invites us to pause and come to Him. I need that! Too often I measure my worth by what I do. In the face of that, Jesus says, “Stop what you are doing and come to me and just be.”

So, for a moment, just stop whatever you are doing and just spend some time with Jesus. Let Him in through the busyness of your life. Let Him meet you in your weak and tired state. Let Him become more than just the words on a page. Let Him breathe His life into your weariness. Let Him speak His words of life to your tired soul today. Take a deep breath of the rest that He promises to all those who come to Him.

Why don’t I do that more often? I run, run, run until I have nothing left and then crash hard. All the while, He is waiting with open arms, waiting for me to notice that He’s there, waiting for me to hear Him calling me, waiting for me not to just slow down, but to stop and sit at His feet for a while. “Come, rest in me.” He says. “Take refuge in the shadow of My wings.” So, hear I am Lord. Just sitting at your feet today. Help me to run to you instead of running after things or accomplishments. Help me to be busy at resting in your presence rather than being busy keeping up with the world around me. You alone are worthy of my time, my talent, and my treasure.
