Matthew 11:2-5 When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.”

Sometimes we just need to be reminded of the truths that we already know. You know, to be certain. When we need to know for sure, we should go directly to Jesus for our answers. I love how Jesus responds. He doesn’t criticize John or his disciples.. He doesn’t get upset at their doubts. He just points to the evidence and says, “See for yourself.”

The evidence that Jesus points to is all around Him. Those that have been healed and cleansed and freed. Those that have heard His message and believed. Jesus doesn’t just tell them, even though His word is proof enough. He shows them. He lives out the answer to their question right in front of them and He does the same for us. Jesus proves every day that He is the Messiah. All we have to do is look and see, listen and hear.

I want to encourage you today. We all have doubts from time to time. The worst thing to do is to let those doubts go unanswered. Jesus isn’t going to slam you for asking Him questions. He isn’t going to blacklist you for wanting to be reassured of who He is. He knows our weaknesses and loves anyways. We are His sheep. We go astray from time to time and He brings us back into the fold. All the time, His love never fails. You can be assured of that!
