Matthew 10:8 “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”
“Freely you have received; freely give.” The immediate application of this is to the disciples who had been given the authority to heal the sick and to drive out demons. They were given this authority and they were to give it away to all. They were not to charge for their actions and they were not to squander away the gift given to them.
In the same way, Jesus is saying this to you and me as well. “Freely you have been given; freely give.” Freely you have been given grace; freely you have been given mercy; freely you have been given love; freely give them away. God has given you and I so much. It’s up to us to give it away. What gifts has He given to you? Freely give them away! Be generous with your gifts. Use them to their fullest potential. Give them back to God as an offering.
And don’t bury your gifts. Don’t hide them or horde them. Rather give them away. Let your light shine! No more hiding out. He can’t receive the glory for a gift that remains unused. What have you been given that you need to give away today? Who around you is needing what you have to give? Go ahead; give it away!
