Matthew 9:21 “She said to herself, ‘If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.’”

Picture this scene for a second. For twelve long years this woman has been bleeding. Imagine the toll that would have taken on her physically. Now, add to that the fact that she would have been unclean for all that time, isolated, rejected, alone. She must have sought help from others over the years. People promising that she’ll get better. She would have undoubtedly tried and prayed and hoped and … always the same. She kept on bleeding. Then she hears of a man that has been healing everyone he touches. Does she dare get her hopes up one more time. She is so tired of the disappointment, so tired of nothing ever working. But something inside of her refuses to give up. “This time is going to be different. This time is going to be my time. This time I will be healed. But how? He will never come to me. I am unclean. I know. I will sneak out and just touch Him. What’s the difference if He touches me or if I reach out and touch Him. It will work. I know it will.”

Is there something in your life that you have tried repeatedly to change? You’ve tried again and again and nothing has happened. You’ve seen all the doctors you can find. You’ve prayed every prayer you could think of. Something will bring it back to the forefront and you renew your hope, only to be dashed on the jagged rocks of disappointment and despair once again. Maybe you’ve given up. You’re tired of trying. You’ve accepted it and settled for less than you had hoped. If that is you today, then hear this. There’s a Savior named Jesus and He has been healing everyone that He touches for two thousand years. He’s right there with you and all you have to do is reach out for Him today. Reach out and touch the hem of His garment. Reach out and connect with His healing power. Don’t give up. Make up your mind today to never stop saying in your heart, “If I only touch His cloak, I will be … ” healed, loving, bold, powerful, fearless, hopeful, engaging, purposeful, passionate, authentic, courageous. You fill in the outcome. God has more for you than you can ever dream of. Go ahead. Touch His garment and then, go for it!
