Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”

I find it very interesting that Jesus says “I never knew you.” He doesn’t say, “You never knew me.” What does it mean when an all knowing God says that he doesn’t know you? I know of you but I don’t know you. I wanted to get close but you kept me at a distance. I hoped we could be close but you wouldn’t let me get past your defenses. My heart longed for more intimacy between us but you were unwilling.

Does God know you? Have you let Him in, past the walls that you have put up. Does He have access to your heart today? Or are you hiding something from Him? You’re good with Him seeing everything but that part you’ve hidden away. Is there any part of your life that is off limits to God?

Sin hardens my heart to God. The more I feed my flesh, the harder my heart gets. I start shutting Him out. God wants an intimate relationship with us. He longs to be closer to you than anybody or anything. Is there anyone or anything that you’ve let come between you and God lately? Maybe God is saying, “I used to know you but I don’t know you any more.” Open yourself back up to His unfailing love. Allow Him in once again.
