Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.”

We live in a world full of judgements. Everywhere we go, we are judged for how we look, what we drive, who we associate with, where we’re from, and the list goes on. There are so many judgements that it is hard for me to imagine not being judged. What would it look like to not be judged?

As I contemplate that, some images come to mind. It would be like Jesus saying to the woman caught in adultery, “Neither do I condemn you”. It would be like the Good Samaritan binding up the wounds and caring for the wounded man. It would be like Jesus washing the feet of His disciples. It would be like Jesus on the cross saying, “Forgive them for they know not what they do.”

Imagine experiencing the forgiveness, the grace, the mercy, the love, of not being judged. The only place we will find that here on earth is in the eyes of Jesus. None of us can do it. None of us can be completely free from judgements. Only Jesus can show us that complete and total acceptance just as we are.

Just as I am – without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
-O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am – and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot,
-O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am – though toss’d about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
-O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am – poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need, in Thee to find,
-O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am – Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
-O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am – Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;
Now to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
-O Lamb of God, I come!

Just as I am – of that free love
The breadth, length, depth, and height to prove,
Here for a season, then above,
-O Lamb of God, I come!
