Jonah 1:17 “Now the LORD provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah”
Jonah was running, but the Lord provided. Jonah was at the end of his rope, but the Lord provided. Jonah would have surely drowned, but the Lord provided. God provides for His children.
My brother and I were four wheeling here in Colorado a number of years ago. It was Labor Day weekend and we were getting an early snowfall in the local mountains. After getting as far up the trail as my truck would take us, I put it in reverse to head back down. What I didn’t realize was that each time I tried to get over this last obstacle, my truck had slid sideways. So, as soon a I started backwards my wheels went off the trail and over the edge of a steep drop off. Being high up in the mountains, the aspen trees were too small to stop the truck and we slid further over the edge. But the Lord provided a pine tree to stop the truck from sliding over the cliff.
I don’t know if you find yourself drowning in a sea of problems or sliding over a cliff of despair. But I do know that the Lord provides. Can you remember a time that God provided just what you needed out of nowhere? How would you finish this sentence. Now the Lord provided a … for me. It’s so important to revisit and hold onto the times when God showed His faithfulness to us. The times when He displays His power on our behalf. When we go through the storms of life, His provision, His faithfulness, His power are promises that we can hold onto.
“On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.” Genesis 22:14.
