Matthew 4:1 “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.”

It was part of God’s plan to have Jesus be tempted. Have you ever thought of that? But Jesus teaches us in the Lord’s prayer to pray to the Father, “Lead us not into temptation.” Maybe that prayer comes from the voice of experience?

There will be times that our faith is tested, and when it is, we take heart knowing that God is still in control. Perhaps that very temptation you are facing today is part of God’s plan for your life. The struggle you find yourself right in the middle of has a purpose behind it. The giant you are facing is all part of God’s will for you.

That sure does change the way I think about trials and temptations. If I look at them as God ordained stepping stones for my walk, like dumbbells that God intends to strengthen my faith, or a measuring rod for where I am at. That is such a more positive way for me to look at what I would consider an obstacle or hinderance. Now I get it when the Word tells us to “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,” James 1:2. God is at work in me! He’s using this to build me up.

Is there something going on in your life that you need to turn from an annoyance to an opportunity, from a stumbling block to a stepping stone? Allow God to show you His plan in it all and even if you can’t see it, trust that He is at work in you.
