1 Corinthians 13:4 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”

Love is kind. What does it mean that love is kind? Can you think of someone in your life that you would say is kind? I’m lucky. I don’t have to look far. My wife is kind. She is gentle and loving and considerate. She is always looking out for everyone else. She pays attention to those that others overlook. She is very encouraging and always trying to help other. She wouldn’t purposely harm anyone or anything. She exemplifies being kind.

The definition of kind is having or showing a friendly, generous, and considerate nature, being gentle, affectionate, and loving. Jesus is kind. “A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.” Matthew 12:20. Though my faith is small as a bruised reed and my passion barely a smoldering wick, He will not reject me or cast me off. Instead, He nurtures my faith with tenderness until it is like a tree and blows gently on my passion until it is fanned into a flame for Him. “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14. Jesus shows His kindness by not overlooking the least among us. He blesses, heals, and encourages women and children, the blind, the lame, and the lepers, the outcasts of the day, and sinners like you and me.

How can you be kind today? Let it start right in your own home and spread out from there. Be kind because the love we have been shown is kind.
