Psalm 17:8 “Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings”

It is important to note the beginning phrase, “Keep me”. That means that you are already the apple of God’s eye. Not that you will one day be His focus. Not that you were once His treasured possession. You are the apple of His eye. And when the world around us makes us think that He is no longer looking out for us, we need to be reminded of this. We are God’s focus day and night, in good times and in bad. His eyes are always on us as He lovingly looks out for those that are His.

And it is because of his unfailing love for us that we can cry out to Him to hide us. When someone is out to get us we can hide in Him. When we’ve done something wrong we can hide in Him. When we are scared we can hide in Him. When we need His comfort we can hide in Him. When we need help we can hide in Him. No matter where you find yourself today, you can cry out to God and ask Him to hide you close to His heart.

As a father wraps his arms around his child to protect them and comfort them, so does the Father long to wrap His arms around you. Run to His open arms right now and feel the warmth of His embrace. You are His darling, the apple of His eye.
