Psalm 27:13 “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”
No matter how bleak it gets, no matter how the darkness closes in around us, we can hold onto the hope we have in Christ. When the enemy surrounds us, it is easy to lose our perspective. We begin to see only the problems. We can let the darkness of our circumstances begin to darken our thoughts and attitudes.
It was pretty dark on that Friday of Passover week so long ago. So dark that the sun wasn’t even shining. “From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land.” Matthew 27:45. As the Son of God hung there on a criminal’s cross, it must have looked pretty hopeless to anyone holding on to faith in Him. “It’s not supposed to end this way.” “He was supposed to save us from our enemies.” When it gets dark, we lose sight of His promises.
Maybe today you are feeling like you are surrounded by an enemy. Maybe it is getting pretty dark in your world today. Just know that no matter how dark it gets, you can hold onto this promise with confidence. You will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. His light can and will overcome any darkness!
