Psalm 34:18 “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
The world would say that the Lord is close to the strong and mighty but God says that He is close to the brokenhearted. Shabar in the Hebrew, means to be broken, maimed, crippled, wrecked, crushed, and shattered. Is your heart broken? God is close. Have your dreams been maimed? God is near. Does your fear cripple you? God is your neighbor. Is your life shipwrecked? God is right next to you. Are you crushed under the weight of responsibility? God is at hand. Is your life shattered? God is approachable.
And He can save you! He can deliver you! He can rescue you! That’s what He does. He takes our shabar and gives us His shalom! His grace is sufficient for His power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Where do you find yourself today? Are you in need of His saving grace? Is there an area of your life that is broken? Can you bring it to God and let Him deliver you and transform your pain? He promises to be right there with you in the midst of whatever you are facing today. And He will save you! You can count on it!
