Psalm 143:8 “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”
This verse reminds me of the scene from Lord of the Rings where Gandalf arrives at dawn with the Rohirrim to join the battle for Helms Deep and vanquish the enemy and save the day. There is something so powerful about a promise kept against terrible odds, about a friendship that stands true no matter what, about good overcoming evil.
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love.” In the same way Jesus rose at the break of dawn on the third day, to vanquish our enemy, to keep his promise to us, our friend forever, who shows us the way to overcome evil with good. Lord, let this story never grow old in my heart. Let it always arouse within me a spirit of courage and boldness, love and honor. Jesus, our victor, our champion.
God’s promise to you today is just as sure, just as true today, as it was on that Easter morning so many years ago. What promise have you been holding onto for so long now? What word from God have you been believing and not letting go of? The morning is coming. Jesus is coming and His unfailing love is more than enough!
I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords. Revelation 19:11-16.
