Exodus 3:4 When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.”
God called Moses by name. God knows your name. What an awesome thought! He knows you and me. Reminds me of a great song.
I have a Maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in his hands
He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And He hears me when I call
God calls out from the burning bush, “I know you Moses. I know you by name. I created you. Come to me.” And Moses’ response was simply, “Here I am”. When God calls our name, that is the proper response, the only response. When God called Abraham by name in Genesis 22:1, Abraham responded with, “Here I am”. When God called Jacob by name in Genesis 31:11, he answered, “Here I am”. When God called out to Samuel in 1 Samuel 3:4, he answered, “Here I am”. And when God called out to Isaiah in Isaiah 6:8, he answered, “Here I am”.
Here I am God. You know me. All my mistakes. All my failures. My insecurities and weaknesses. Here I am God. You know my hopes and dreams, my strengths and gifts, the deepest desires of my heart. Here I am God.
Can you hear God calling out to you today? Calling you by name? What is your heart’s response to His calling?
