Exodus 3:1 “Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.”
Moses was a shepherd and this day, like every day, was spent tending his father-in-law’s flock. Moses didn’t wake up with any thought that this day would be any different from any other day. I’m sure the days just blended one into the other after a while. Same old same old. Day in and day out. The grind. But this day was not like any other day for Moses. This day would change His life forever.
I woke up this morning much like Moses did. Just another day at the office. And you know, it was just another day at the office. Sometimes that’s good. I mean, I didn’t get in a life changing accident. I wasn’t fired from my job. I came home to my loving wife and a great dinner. But, I wonder. I wonder what I might have missed today along the path I was taking. Perhaps there was an opportunity to share God’s love with someone. Maybe God was speaking to me through a co-worker but I just brushed it off as idle conversation.
God is able to break into our mundane life at any moment. Every day we stand on the edge of a life changing experience waiting to happen. Imagine waking up with that mindset. How different would your day be if you entertained the thought each morning that today God is going to do something really important in my life and I’m not going to miss it?
Is today going to be just another day for you?
