John 15:11 “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
“I have told you this” Jesus says in this verse. What is the “this” that Jesus is talking about here? “This” refers to the previous 10 verses of John 15. Jesus has been talking about abiding in Him and bearing fruit for God. If you want abundant joy in your life, abide in Christ and bear fruit for the kingdom.
A good friend of mine told me once that I have a problem. A joy problem. He said that I am joy challenged. So, I need all the help I can get and Jesus has the answer to my problem. Abide in Him and my joy will be complete. Abide in Him and He will abide in me and his joy will be my joy and my joy will be complete.
When I try to go it alone, when I pretend that I’m self-sufficient and don’t need help, my joy suffers. Without others to share joy with, it dwindles away. Joy is not meant to be stuffed down or held onto tightly or kept for a rainy day. Joy is meant to be expressed and shared and overflowing. So, when I am abiding in Christ and He is abiding in me. Then I will bear fruit and that fruit will bring joy to Jesus and His joy will be my joy and my joy will overflow.
Today, connect with Christ and receive His joy. Then go out and share it with as many people as you can!
