““As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”
Our God is all about love. From cover to cover, the Bible is full of His love in all its many facets.
“For God so loved the world …” “God is love” “and the greatest of these is love” “His love endures forever” “abounding in steadfast love” “your unfailing love”
The word love appears 574 times in the NIV translation. That’s more than twice the number of times faith appears in the Bible. Here, in John, we are encouraged to remain in Jesus’ love. To abide and dwell and stand firm in His love. To be surrounded with His love. To do that, we must first receive His love. And to receive it, we must believe it. In the 15 verses of 1 John 4:7-21 the word love appears 26 times.
“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:9-10
God demonstrated His love for us so that we could believe it and receive it. What hinders you from receiving His love today?
