John 15:2 “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”

God is serious about tending to His garden. He doesn’t play around with branches that don’t bear fruit. He cuts them off. It makes me stop and think what fruit have I produced lately? Just like the servant in Matthew 25 who buries his master’s talent and does nothing to bring a return on that investment, fruitless branches are cut off. What did you do with the breath God gave you today? Is there fruit in your life today? Not yesterday, or last year, but today. None of us can rest secure in last year’s crop. Just like the manna, it doesn’t last.

What if we woke up each morning with the mindset that we need to be about bearing fruit today? How would that change your priorities? Would your focus be any different? I know mine would be. I would focus more on what God was doing around me and join in. I would be sure to use the gifts that God has given me to their fullest each day. I definitely would get up off my rear and be more active. It wouldn’t be all about me and relaxing.

Today, can we determine in our hearts to bear fruit for God? If you’ve buried that talent which God gave you, can you make up your mind today to dig it up and start using it to bring a return on His investment in you? What a wonderful, fragrant garden God desires us to be a part of. I can almost smell the fruit ripening around me now. Come join in with what the Gardener is doing.
