Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

Picture a fortress. Strong and secure. Reliable and protected. Now picture a tower in the middle of that fortress that represents the safest place in that castle. The name of the Lord is more dependable, more secure, a safer place to be than even that tower.

The name of the Lord. Being called by His name. An heir in His kingdom. Part of His family. Bearing His likeness. You get the picture. The name of the Lord is a tower, a fortress, a castle of strength and protection. You are His and He’s not going to let you go or let just anyone pick on you. When trouble comes, we are to run to Him. Run to that place of belonging. Run home to God.

Was there ever a moment growing up when something happened, maybe you got hurt or bullied, and you just wanted to run home to be safe? When the storms of life come crashing down, run to the fortress that is our eternal home. Hide in your identity in Christ. Let Him clothe you and surround you and fill you. Let God lift you up and place you on the Rock that will never be shaken far above the enemies that surround you.
