A Word or Two from the Word - John 21:12

John 21:12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” This verse reminds me of another in Revelation 3:20. “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” Both of these passages speak volumes about God’s heart for His children. What an intimate, full, loving relationship our God desires to have with us. He’s not a God that wants us to serve Him, though He deserves it.…

A Word or Two from the Word - John 21:9

John 21:9 “When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.” Jesus was waiting for His friends to come back to shore. And when they got there, He didn’t scold them or condemn them or ridicule them. No, he welcomed them to come and eat with Him. He called them back into fellowship with Him. And He does the same with us. This picture of Jesus by the fire cooking breakfast for His friends is so amazing! What a glimpse of…

A Word or Two from the Word - John 21:7

John 21:7 “Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water.” As soon as Simon Peter realized that it was Jesus, he jumped in to the water and headed straight for Jesus on the shore. Oh that I would always respond the way Peter did when I recognize that it has been Jesus calling out to…

A Word or Two from the Word - John 21:6

John 21:6 “He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.” When I am not in the middle of God’s will, I can work hard all night long and not accomplish anything. But when I am in line with God’s plan and purpose for my life, God’s abundance is all around me. Jesus has a way of working all things together for our good…

A Word or Two from the Word - John 21:5

John 21:5 “He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” “No,” they answered.” Jesus calls out to His disciples in their confusion and chaos. He calls out to them and calls them friends. “Have you found what you thought you were looking for?” Nope. We came to go fishing but haven’t found any. When your world is getting rocked a bit, when the pieces aren’t making sense, when you go looking for some stability and something familiar, can you hear Jesus calling out to you? “Friend, have you…
