Our motivation for doing good should not be for the reward. In fact, are we really doing good if we are doing it for the reward? The good things that we do should just come naturally as the result of a changed heart. “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” Luke 6:45.
- What is your heart full of today?
- What gets in the way of you doing good?
- Has God been prompting you to do good but you have been putting it off?
In the same way that we have been made salt and light (Mt. 5:13-15), we have been made good. You are good! So go do good! I’m tired of not being who God made me to be. How about you? Are you being who God created you to be? Are you being good and doing good because of the goodness that Jesus has placed in your heart?
It’s time that the church let its salt be flavorful, it’s light be bright, and its goodness be seen in action. Imagine what your world would look like if we all were in the business of doing good. Praise God! It would be a beautiful place to live. Wouldn’t it?
I know that some of us have lost heart in this struggle against sin but hang in there. Remember, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Rom. 12:21.Hold fast to your faith. Don’t be swayed by the lies of the enemy for they will be repaid in the end for all their ways. Every wrong that has been done to you will be repaid someday. Don’t give up! Don’t loose heart! God is good and He put His goodness inside of you. Own that goodness and live it out loud!
