12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

Don’t get your hopes up. Those are unrealistic expectations. She’s way out of your league. Don’t aim so high. It’s better to make small, achievable goals. There are so many saying to protect us from disappointment in life. This world daily promises to fulfill all your wants. Every advertisement sets our expectation that our life will be all that we’ve dreamed it will be if we just purchase their product. Unfortunately, the world comes up empty every time. Instead of fulfillment, we’re left wanting more.

I hope this job is better. I hope this relationship works out. I hope I win the lottery. I hope this time I’ll be in the right place at the right time. What do you place your hope in? Is it a job, a relationship, in money, or a time and place? If it is not in God, and Him alone, you’re going to be let down someday.

Hope is a powerful motivator. It is called an anchor for our soul (Heb. 6:19). So why trust it to anyone or anything but the Lord our God? And if your hope is in God, there is no need to be cautious or limit our expectations. If our hope is in the Lord, we will never be disappointed. God is always faithful! His promises are always yes and amen! He will never leave you nor forsake you! His love endures forever! He always has our best in mind! With God all things are possible!

Put your hope in Him. Put your trust in Him. “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Ps. 37:4. Give Him all your heart and you will never be hopeless. Let Him fulfill that longing in your heart today!
