10 When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy. 11 Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.

As go God people, so goes the city. That is an interesting concept to think about. If you look at the state of the cities here in the United States, it would seem that the righteous and the upright are not prospering. Our cities are in trouble. The crime and division is horrible. .I would put out there that the reason for this is that God’s people are not acting much like followers of Christ

If we were living righteous lives and acting in an upright fashion, our cities would be rejoicing and they would be exalted. That’s what the Bible says. Instead, it seems that the wicked are prospering and their mouths are filling this country with destruction. Wow! How true is that statement? How much of the state of ruin we are facing is a result of the constant barrage of filth and lies that we hear every day from those who hate God?

But I still can’t help but think that we, as God’s children, could counter all that if we would just rise up and start acting like the children of the King of kings that we are.

If the church would tithe, imagine how many new ministries we would have. Imagine how many mouths would be fed. I have heard that the number of Christians that tithe is between 2 and 4 percent. What if we all tithed? They say, we could feed the world if the Church would just tithe!

And what if the church prayed? The Church does pray, the problem is that research says that more than 80% of our prayers revolve around our own needs or the needs of our families. Only 3% of our prayers are for strangers.

And what if we read the Bible and followed the instruction manual for our lives? Only 20% of church going believers read their Bibles daily. Another 20% say they never read the Bible. The other 60% of us fall somewhere between never and daily. If the Bible is the word of God, imagine what this world would look like if we filled our lives with the living and active words of God!

We could change the landscape of our cities if we would rise up and live as Christ has called us to live. Why has God given you breath today? To change this world for Him!
