21 With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk. 22 All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose 23 till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life.

There are different types of traps. Some traps use bait to lure in the prey. Some traps attract the prey by mimicking a mate or a wounded animal. Some traps use the prey’s habits and natural tendencies to ensnare them on the paths they normally take. What’s common about all the traps is, they only work if the prey doesn’t recognize it’s a trap.

“let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us” Heb. 12:1.

Sin is a snare, a trap, it will cost you everything. “For the wages of sin is death” What traps have you fallen into in the past? What has ensnared you and held you captive? Do you recognize the traps that lie in wait for you today? Do you bother to look for them?

“The arrogant have hidden a snare for me; they have spread out the cords of their net and have set traps for me along my path.” Ps. 140:5.

We humans might be the only creatures that continue to take the bait even when we know that it’s a trap. If you have allowed yourself to be caught in a trap again and you find yourself captive to the hunter, we have a God that can help.

“My eyes are ever on the LORD, for only he will release my feet from the snare.” Ps. 25:15. Cry out to Jesus for deliverance and He will deliver you.
