15 Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. 16 Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? 17 Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers. 18 May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. 19 A loving doe, a graceful deer— may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be intoxicated with her love. 20 Why, my son, be intoxicated with another man’s wife? Why embrace the bosom of a wayward woman?

Your wife is God’s gift to you alone. She is not to be pushed out into the streets to look for love. She is not to be shared with others or passed off to the next man. God gave her to you and you alone. She is to be cherished and honored and loved with every bit of who you are. You are to share the most intimate of relationships with her alone. There is to be no one closer to your heart on this earth.

We, as husbands, are to make the choice to be satisfied with our wives. Everyday make the choice to rejoice in your wife, to be filled with her love and love for her, to be drunk on her love. God gave her to you and you to her. Together you are more than you could be apart. Together you can share love and life to the fullest.

You might be reading these words and saying to yourself, “You don’t know my wife.” You’re right, I don’t. It doesn’t matter. She might not be in a place to give her all to you. It doesn’t matter. You still need to uphold your end. You need to lead by example. You need to be the husband that God intended you to be. Your job is to love her like Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

Make the decision today to love your wife, to be drunk on her love, and hers alone. Do not take your heart anywhere else. It belongs to God first and your wife second. Let her know that each day. Let her feel that each day. God will bless you as you follow His lead.
