1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, turn your ear to my words of insight, 2 that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge. 3 For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; 4 but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword. 5 Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. 6 She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.

Watch out! Stay alert! Danger! Do not enter! Some of the sternest warnings in the Bible have to do with lust and sexual immorality. The temptation is real for most men. It seems sweet. It is enticing. It is attractive. It is consuming. It is wrong! “In the end she is like throw up in your mouth, she’ll cut you and make you bleed. She’ll cause you and early death.” She doesn’t sound so attractive when God’s light shines upon her.

Men, we need to help each other to stand strong against the temptations all around us. We are called to be iron for one another. I need men in my life that are willing to call me out when I am in the wrong. I need men in my life that I am in close enough relationship with that they see when I have set foot on the wrong path and who I have given permission to hold me to a higher standard. We all need others to hold us accountable.

Do you have men in your life that know you well enough to see when you are wrong? Have you been real with them? Deep down real that hides nothing? You have to lay it out there if you want to be held accountable. Are you that man for someone else? Is there someone that you know that needs to be pulled out of the mess that they’ve gotten themselves into?

Lord, help us to be men of strength and purity. Men who stand together against anything that is against you. Men who are willing to do it right no matter the cost. Men whose hearts are yours and yours alone. Amen!
