23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Let’s talk about the heart for a second. The heart is the center of who you are, your mind, will, and emotions, your inner man, your soul. Matthew 15:18 says, “But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them.” and Luke 6:45 “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”

We are to guard it, watch out over it, keep it safe. How do we do this? “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:6-7. The peace of God guards our heart and prayer is the primary method for us to receive His peace.

The Holy Spirit also helps to guard our hearts. “Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.” 2 Tim. 1:14. God placed His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit (2 Cor. 1:22) so make use of the power at work within you.

The enemy wants to take you out and knows that if he can gain control of your heart then he will have mastery over you. Don’t let him! That throne is for God to sit on and Him alone!

Yeah, that is a daily challenge to keep the walls fortified around my heart. The enemy will bring everything and kitchen sink to get me to waiver. I have to make an effort to seek the Lord daily or I’m finished easy as that. There is no way around it. I’m either in Christ or Crisis!
