14 Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. 15 Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way. 16 For they cannot rest until they do evil; they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble. 17 They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.

Reread these verses. And again. Let these words sink in. The path of the wicked. The way of evildoers. Can you identify it when you see it? Are your senses sharp enough to know that path when you approach it? Or have you been dulled by the constant barrage of the world system? Have you been hanging around that path too often to know that you are in real danger of going down it?

Or perhaps you know that it is the path of the wicked and yet you remain determined to go the wrong way. Have you hardened your heart towards God in some area? Have you made up your mind that you know best? You might try to justify your decision by convincing others to join you on that path.

Our enemy does not rest. He continues day and night to try to get us to do evil. He is determined to make us stumble. And he has people that serve to accomplish those goals. There are people in your life and mine that will stop at nothing to get us offtrack.

The key to all of this is to remain aware. And how do we remain aware? By listening to the Holy Spirit. The more we are open to God’s leading and prompting by means of His spirit within in us, the more we become aware of the wicked paths we face each day. Pray, read the Word, keep in constant contact with the source of everything good. I need Him more and more every day. How about you?
