9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

God doesn’t need your wealth. I don’t think that God even wants your wealth. But God doesn’t want you to need your wealth or for you to want your wealth more than you want Him. So, He ask us for our firstfruits. He says, trust me to provide for you and to multiply what’s left. He doesn’t ask for the last or what’s leftover. He asks for the first.

Exodus 34:26 “Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the LORD your God.”

2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

We are to willingly give the best and the choicest to the Lord. We are to be cheerful givers as we honor God with our wealth. Do you honor God with your wealth? Do you give to Him with joy and gladness? Does God get the best from you? For a second, translate into not just your wealth, but your time, your talent, your attitude, your emotions. Does God get the best from you?

What would it look like if you tithed not only of your treasure, but of your time and your talent? What if you gave 10% of your time to God each day? Can you trust Him to multiple the remaining 21.6 hours? What if you connected with God in relationship, at a heart level, every day the same way that you relate to your wife, your kids, your friends, your co-workers? Can you give God that much attention?

Our God is so awesome! He is the greatest! He is the best! He is all powerful! He is so kind and generous! He loves us like no other! Honor Him with your firstfruits in all ways!
