“Let love and faithfulness never leave you.” What a wonderful place that sounds like. It sounds so warm and inviting, so peaceful and restful. I just want to take a deep breath of love and faithfulness. Sounds good doesn’t it? This verse is not talking about receiving love and faithfulness. It is talking about being a person of love and faithfulness. That means you and how you are to respond to life.
So, when the trash truck backs up into your car, you are supposed to respond with love and faithfulness. When your boss throws you under the bus to save his hide, our response is love and faithfulness. When your kids are pushing your buttons and the bills are piling up and you just spilled dinner on the floor. You guessed it. Love and faithfulness.
- What triggers you to move away from a response of love?
- When do you feel like being less than faithful?
- How can you bind them around your neck and write them on the tablet of your heart?
Love is to be our default response, our go to answer at all times. Faithfulness is to be how we live our lives even when we don’t feel like it. We all need people in our lives that have permission to call us out when we are not being loving and faithful. Do you have people in your life that fill this role for you?
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you.” Sure does sound nice. I’ll show it to you and you can show it to me. Deal?
