12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,
13 who have left the straight paths to walk in dark ways,
14 who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
15 whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
Lord, how we need your wisdom in this day and age! the world around us is full of traps and snares and pitfalls and at every corner there is someone waiting to lead us astray. Lord, we need you. I need you. Your ways are perfect. Your paths are sure. In an unsteady world, we need the Rock that is higher than I.
Wisdom will save you … if you apply it! It doesn’t do any good to take in the Word of God if you don’t plan on using it. James tells us this, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” Jam. 1:22. That means before you make that business decision, pray. Before you invest with that broker, pray. Before you hang out with that co-worker or neighbor, pray. And then listen and obey.
What decision are you facing today that you need wisdom to handle? Have you asked God for guidance yet? If so, are you willing to follow what He says? God’s wisdom is available to all those who call on Him, but it doesn’t do any good if you don’t listen to it and follow it.
