16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

Let the message, the logos, the words of Christ, dwell with, or indwell, or inhabit you. Sounds a lot like John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” When we read the Bible, God is there with us. When we share the Word with others, God is there. Jesus fills us as His Word fills us. “Remain in me, as I also remain in you.” John 15:4. Or the King James, “Abide in me, and I in you.”

How awesome is that! Jesus and His Word are synonymous, inseparable, Jesus and His Word are one. So as we read and digest and fill ourselves with His Word, we are filled with Him, His presence pours over us. Have you ever felt the presence of Jesus take over a conversation. Sometimes my thoughts will be far from God and something will happen that causes me to pray or recite a verse or sing a song. No sooner have I started quoting scripture and my whole attitude changes, my thoughts clear up, what seemed so large the moment before is more manageable now.

There is power in the Words of Christ. The Bible is not just words on a page. The Word of God is living and active (Heb. 4:12). Think of all that you are missing when you forgo reading and spending quality time in the Word of God. You are missing out on time with Jesus. You are missing out on Him dwelling with you richly! If you haven’t spent time in His Word today, then do it now. There is no better time than the present to engage with the Word made flesh.
