15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Peace, the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and content with its earthly lot, of whatsoever sort that is. How often do we forfeit that peace when the waves of circumstance surround us? I know this week has caused me to lose my grip on that peace at times. Sometimes we have to stop for a moment and take a deep breath and remember that God is in control no matter what.

Close your eyes. Check your heart. What is ruling in your heart right now? Is it the peace of Christ or is it some distraction, some circumstance, something that is drawing you away from Jesus? Ask God to take whatever is laying heavy on your heart and to give you His peace in its place. Do it now. Take a deep breath and allow God to fill you with His peace.

We have been called to peace as Christians, peace with God, peace with one another, and peace with ourselves. Peace is a powerful witness. Peace is contagious. Peace helps us to put things in perspective.

Our peace is not our own. Jesus said in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” The peace of Christ is a gift. Let the peace of Christ rule and reign in your heart and mind. Let it comfort you and envelop you. Trust that God is enough and let let the rest go for now.
