2 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Encouraged in heart and united in love. What a phrase! How I would love to live in a community of believers like that. Believers encouraged in heart. Strengthening one another.Building each other up. Imagine if we spent our time and energy encouraging each other instead of tearing each other down. If we didn’t judge or compare but supported, helped, and blessed the Spirit at work in everyone. That’s what the church is supposed to be.

And united in love. Think of the possibilities if we, as the body of Christ, were united in love. United in our love for Jesus. United in our love for each other. United by the Spirit that lives within us. What a testimony to the world around us when we live this way. This is a witness of the highest degree that God really does rule and reign in the hearts of His children.

Is this what your church looks like? Does this describe your daily interactions with other believers? It sure seems far from what I experience in most Christian circles. We need to get back to a Christian walk that distinguishes apart from the world in which we live. I need to change my attitudes, my preconceived notions, my goals. How can you encourage and unite those around you today?

Be strong. Be strong. Strengthen one another!
