21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation

Here’s the New Living Translation of verse 21 “This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions.” We were all once separated from God. Our sin created a chasm that we could not get across. Our thoughts and actions were in direct conflict with God’s will and we were enemies. There are times now that I still feel far away from God. That I am not good enough, I don’t do enough, I’ve sinned one too many times.

But the truth is that God has reconciled me to Himself by the death of Jesus once and for all time. I am holy, without blemish, and close to God. I am no longer far away but I have been brought near by the blood of Jesus. And I am free from any accusation. I am no longer an enemy but a friend.

When the accuser of the brethren comes calling, sewing those lies about who you are, just remember that Christ has made you blameless.
