1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

We were not meant to do this life alone. Paul here is teamed with Timothy. We all need a Paul or Timothy in our lives to come along side us and work shoulder to shoulder to accomplish what God has called us to. Alone, we can only do so much, we can only be so effective, we can only minister to a fraction of those around us. And it sure is tiring working alone. It drags on you. With no one else to help shoulder the load the burden gets heavy fast.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 says it best, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

  • Is there a part of your life that you are trying to “go it alone”?
  • Do you need to seek out a Paul or Timothy to partner with in doing life together?
  • If Paul relied on other brothers to help him, what makes you think that you can do it all by yourself?

I used to try it mostly all alone. Scared to be condemned or thought of little. Working so hard to cover everything had me exhausted, confused, angry and frustrated. The Lord Lead me to a brother that has been faithful for years. I knew him awhile back and would touch in every now and then and we would have a spirit filled conversation. I would never let on to the real struggles I was dealing with until finally I was tired of doing life alone and really needed a brother I could count on. I came clean to him on my secret addictions. He then let me know I was still loved and there is no condemnation from the Lord. He loves me right where I am and wants to heal and deliver me from those chains. He walked alongside feeding me the word everyday and then along with marked men and going through the phase 1,2 &3 . I have gained more and more brothers I can be honest , open and transparent with. Jesus had His 3 , James, John and Peter. Then the 12 and then the 70, and 500 and 1000 all the way to US. Praise God! It just starts with One. I just had to realize Jesus is that one to start the fire! Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you REST!
