Paul finishes up his prayer here by giving God all the glory. Our God is able to do anything! Do you have an obstacle that you are facing? God can remove it. Do you have bills that need to be paid? God can pay them. Do you have a child that is not following Jesus? God can change that. Do you have cancer? God can heal that too.
There is nothing that God can’t handle. There is nothing that takes Him by surprise. I think that many of us don’t really believe that or at least we don’t put that belief into practice daily. Do your daily prayers reflect the fact that God is able to do immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine? Do you sell God short by not asking for what you really want, playing it safe so that you don’t get disappointed if you don’t get what you want? James 4:2-3 says it well, “You do not have because you do not ask God.”
What is that one thing that maybe you have been afraid to ask God for? Are you willing to ask and then trust that whatever His answer is, it is the best possible answer for you? Go ahead and ask Him. As Mathew Henry states, “Prayer is the appointed means for obtaining what we need. Pray; pray often; make a business of prayer, and be serious and earnest in it. Ask, as a beggar asks alms. Ask, as a traveler asks the way.” The Word tells us, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Matthew 7:11. God is waiting to hear from you today.
