9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

It is so hard sometimes to do the right thing. The temptation is always there to take the easy road, the selfish road, the passive road, whatever road other than the good road that God is calling us down. Maybe it is at work. It’s so easy to say, “That’s not my responsibility”, even though you could help out your co-worker. Or adding a few hours to your time card to make up for the long lunch you took yesterday. Perhaps you find yourself being accused of something you didn’t do and you are tempted to respond with accusations of your own. What about in your own home? You’ve continued to love on your spouse in spite of their outbursts but you’ve just had enough.

Wherever you find yourself today, keep doing good, keep obeying God’s Word, keep on loving those around you. God’s Word promises us a return on that investment. Keep it up! The harvest is coming. “Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.” Rom. 12:17 “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Rom. 12:21

  • Is there an area of your life where you are struggling to continue to do good?
  • What’s at the heart of that struggle for you?
  • What do you need from Jesus to keep doing the right thing?
  • Ask Him for it now.

I just need to learn of him more.
When I struggle to do good is usually when I am missing time in fellowship with God.
