16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

The Spirit and the flesh are at war within you and me. Can you feel it?

  • What is the Spirit saying to you today?
  • What is your flesh saying to you today?

This constant battle within forces us to discern what voice to listen to. Is this the Spirit leading me or my flesh? Do you know the difference?

  • What does the voice of the Spirit sound like in your life?
  • What does your flesh sound like?

So, what does it mean to walk by the Spirit? We are to go through life, making decisions, interacting with others, and basing our actions in obedience to the Spirit, as the Spirit leads, following His promptings, and listening to His voice. It means giving God veto power over your feelings, and desires. It means submitting all areas of your life to God’s authority and letting Him decide what’s best for you. Are you ready to give Him the reins of your life? Give it a try and let the Spirit drive for a while.
