The Greek literally states, “You were running, who hindered you from obeying the truth?” First off, are you running? Or would it be more accurate to say that you are walking, or standing still, or back-pedaling? We are called to be runners. We are to run the race set before us (1 Cor. 9:24, Heb. 12:1). Keep moving forward!
Second, who hinders you? Who trips you up, sets a stumbling block in your path, or is that voice of doubt in your ear? Press on to take hold of your purpose and calling (Phil. 3:12). Throw off everything that hinders you (Heb. 12:1). Get back up when you’ve stumbled!
Finally, are you obeying the truth? And what truth are you obeying? Are you in His Word daily so you know the truth? The truth sets us free (Jn. 8:32). God’s Word lights our way (Ps. 119:105). Be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Rom. 12:2). Let the truth be your guide!
And the only way we can accomplish any of this is through Jesus Christ. So through it all lean on His strength and not your own.
