How do you treat those who might be looked at as a burden to you? What if my need inconveniences you, makes you go out of your way? What if I make it hard for you to help me? What then? How will you treat me?
I hope the answer is that you would treat me how you would want to be treated in a similar situation. Or better yet, that you would treat others as if they were Christ himself.
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” Matthew 25:40. How different this is from the pattern that we’re taught by the world. The world tells us that it is all about what we can get out of a situation, what is in it for me? God’s way is all about what we can give, what can I do for you?
- What is in it for me?
- What can I do for you?
Which is it going to be for you today?
“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” Heb. 13:2
