26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

We continue to see the ravages of discrimination based on race, gender, status, and everything that is unique or different about us. In the world, this will always be the case. But we have the answer in the church. We have been given a oneness in Christ that goes beyond anything that could possibly divide us. Unfortunately we aren’t seeing this played out in our churches nearly enough. Why?

I think the key is that before the oneness of verse 28 can happen, the identification with Christ of verse 27 needs to take place. The reason we can be one in Christ is that we clothe ourselves with Christ. Christ then covers up all that might divide and we can be unified as His body. There are too many Christians that are trying to look like the world instead of like Jesus. If we in the church who have the answer choose not to show the world how we can be one in Christ, then why would they believe that Jesus can make a difference in their life.

Clothe yourself with Christ and show the world that Jesus is a difference maker!
