23 Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

We were locked up until Jesus set us free. You are free! Do you know that? Do you live like a free man? What I find in my own life is that I have to give myself permission to live freely. Each day it is a choice for me to live like a slave to sin or to live as I truly am, free from that bondage that once held me locked up.

When sin comes knocking at my door I have to choose who I am going to submit to. Am I going to submit to the bondage of sin or am I going to submit to Jesus Christ, my new master. Each day is a battle. The funny thing is, the battle has already been won and we are more than conquerors in Christ. So why do I still struggle?

I am convinced that grace and forgiveness are at the heart of this struggle. The more that I trust in God’s grace and forgiveness the easier it is for me to live in the fullness of life in Christ. When I don’t trust this forgiveness then I end up trusting in my own actions and I’m back under the law.

So, are you going to live like a slave today or a free man?
