2 I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race in vain.

Paul was running a race. He wasn’t planning on running a race. He wasn’t thinking that it might be a good idea to run a race someday. He was running it! Paul had encountered the living Christ and now had a race to run. But he wanted to make sure that he was running the right race.

  • What race are you running?

Are you running after success, caught up in the rat race of this present world? Are you running after your own dreams or desires, hoping to achieve what you’ve made up your mind that you need? Or are you running the race that Jesus has called you to?

  • Who are you running for?

Are you running for the applause of this world, or fame, or fortune? Are you running to feel good about yourself, that you are doing something to give yourself meaning and worth? Or are you running for the unending love of Jesus?

  • Where are you running to?

Are you running to get ahead of your peers or neighbors, just have to be better than those around me? Are you running from your past, don’t know where you are going just as long as it’s not where you’ve been? Or are you running into the everlasting arms of our King?

Jesus has a race for you to run. Go for it!
