6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.

Remember that the word gospel means “Good News”. Let’s re-read this verse with this replacement made.

6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different “Good News” — 7 which is really no “Good News” at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the “Good News”of Christ.

What “Good News” are you turning to? Is there any “Good News” that catches your eye and draws you in? Maybe you find yourself saying, “That makes sense. I kind of like the way that sounds.” If it is not the “Good News” of Jesus Christ, it is no “Good News” at all! The world will try to twist, change, modify, improve upon the gospel message. Don’t fall for it!

The Gospel has always been and will always be the same.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

And that my friends is “Good News” indeed!
