  • What part of this verse is the hardest for you to put into practice?

The first thing that I notice is that this verse is personal, ‘I’ can. Not we all can. Not you can. ‘I’ can. Next, it says ‘can’ not could, or should, or did, but ‘can’. Then it says, I can ‘do’. Do is an action. It is active not passive, moving not idle. And then there is that three letter word ‘all’. Not one, not some, not even spiritual, but ‘all’ things!

What if the verse stopped there? I can do all things. Is that statement more believable or less believable? How would that change things for you? Thank God that the verse doesn’t stop there.

It is ‘through Christ’ that all things can be done. It is through Christ that I can stand strong in my faith. It is through Christ that I can lead my family. It is through Christ that I can hold it together when my world is falling apart. It is through Christ that I can … You fill in the blank. And how does He do this? He ‘strengthens’ me. He is the source of my strength. He is my shield and my buckler, my strong tower and sure defense. He lifts me up on eagles wings. He has not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Embrace what God has for you in this verse. He has a gift for you in it!
