6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I am a big time worrier. I stress about everything. So this verse was one of the first verses that I memorized when I became a Christian. Now, whether you are anxious about everything like me or just the occasional circumstance gets to you, this verse has the answer.

“In every situation”, whether big or small, we are to give it up to God and let Him carry the weight. God is in the exchange business. When we give Him our sin, He gives us His righteousness. When we give Him our fears, He gives us His peace. This exchange is done through prayer. By praying about every situation we face, we are allowing God to be in control of the outcome. The peace comes when I let go and trust that His outcome will be the best possible outcome. Then, no matter what I am facing, I can hold onto the peace that God offers to me.

So, what are you facing right now that has you anxious, worried, or afraid? Have you prayed about it? Can you trust that God is in control of it? Now, can you just let go of it? Easier said than done perhaps. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord” Ps 37:23. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Prov 3:5-6. Can you trust God with the outcome? Put it in His hands. Go ahead. He’s big enough to take care of it. Trust Him. He will never let you down.
