9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

There is no name like the name of Jesus! “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12. There is nothing in all of creation that comes close to Jesus. No person, no creature, no angel, no sun, moon, or stars can compare. Jesus is above all! Since God has exalted Jesus above all, shouldn’t we do the same?

I’ve heard it said that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow – some willingly, some unwillingly, but all will bow before Him someday. Wouldn’t it be better to do it willingly? And every tongue is going to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord – some in this life, some at the judgement, but all someday. Wouldn’t it be better to do it now?

Is there any thing in your life, in this world, that you hold up above the name of Jesus? Is there any part of your heart that you haven’t submitted to the authority of Jesus? Is there any hesitation in confessing that Jesus is your Lord, your King? Search my heart Lord and show me what I hold on to that rivals you for the highest place in my heart. For you alone are worthy of holding that place.

“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13. Father, give us the courage to proclaim with our mouths and with our lives that Jesus Christ is Lord!
